Samantha Power: The Idealist’s Journey

Samantha Power, 28th US Ambassador to the United Nations. Moderated by Wendy Pearlman.

Samantha Power moved to the US from Ireland at age 9 with her family. As an activist, Pulitzer Prize-winning author, National Security Council advisor, and as the US ambassador to the UN under President Obama, she has dedicated her career to advancing the cause of human dignity. This work has forced her to confront many of the largest and gravest global injustices, and wrestle with the question of how the US should respond. Today, the stakes are especially high, as a global movement to rollback political freedom, undermine equality, and soften the foundations of international cooperation, threaten future progress on human rights. Power joins the Council to chronicle her years of public service, and to make the case that America cannot lose sight of the world-changing power of idealism.

This special breakfast event is not open to the public. IN Chicago has a limited number of seats available for our members and their guests, at the CCGA Board Member rate. Admission price includes breakfast and a copy of Samantha Power’s memoir, The Education of an Idealist, which the author will sign after the event.
